[PARIS] Pierre Herme: The finest macarons

Dear Food Diary:

Since March 20th is Macaron Day in Paris (and now in NY) I thought I’d dedicate my post to the one who started this sweet day: Pierre Herme.

A trip to Paris wouldn’t be complete without indulging in Pierre Herme macarons. Luxurious, artisanal production of the finest macarons in the world. This is a real treat (yes, better than Laduree). At over 2 Euros for a precious little sandwich, the price is completely worth it. The store doesn’t allow photos and the staff can get snooty, but I managed to snap a blurry one on my way out.

Gyu Kaku Times Square: grand opening specials

Gyu Kaku Time Sq

It’s awesome to have new dining options around the Theater District. Gyu Kaku just opened in a massive space right on 44th street between 8th and 9th avenue.

Not only are they giving 15% OFF you’re entire bill until the end of this month. But the Sakura Festival specials are quite a sweet deal.

Txikito: my favorite tapas in the city

Dear Food Diary:
When I first started going to Txikito, it was a tiny spot, hidden all the way on the west side. Tables were hard to come by. One summer night, I endured the sauna like tight dinning room (no a.c) just to please my tapas craving. Luckily, they’ve expanded since, taking over the next door space. Making it in this city might be tough, but turning out amazing traditional Basque Country dishes night after night is the key to their success.

March 7-11: Japan Restaurant Week for a good cause

I’ve done Japan Restaurant Week long time ago at Megu. Even though I’m not big on Restaurant Week in general, this caught my attention since it for a good cause. Plus some of my favorite places like Sakagura, Kyotofu, Hagi and Ippudo are participating. As well as 15 East and Misoya.

DETAIL HERE (Wish they had a sample menu though).
