Chocolate Show New York 2012 1

Dear Food Diary:
Last Saturday we went down to this year’s NY Chocolate Show with one thing in mind… make our sweet tooth silly happy. With my press pass in hand, I went off to sampling bite after bite of chocolate goodies like an true chocoholic.

Jeanne & Gaston: Press dinner [guest post]

Roger did his first guest post as the winner of the “Edible Garden Festival and Mario Batali Cooking Demo”. He did such a great job that I invited him to attend the Jeanne & Gaston press dinner on my behalf. He’s now started his own blog Roger eats like a pig!

Here is his review:

Jeanne & Gaston is a quaint traditional French restaurant in Chelsea whose nondescript appearance belies a laid-back and comforting ambiance.

Torrisi Italian Specialty: Great $65 Tasting Menu

Dear Food Diary:
My first taste of Torrisi was back at Le Fooding 2010, where Rich Torrisi and Mario Carbone’s pig tongue dish left a bad taste in my mouth. Therefore the restaurant got bumped all the way down on my eating list. Only recently, did it make it to the top again. Word on the street is that their fresh mozzarella is legit, so I had to take this long overdue trip to Nolita.

FRIDAY: Momofuku + Red Cross for Sandy

It’s been a devastating week in the East Coast. I’ve never seen images of NYC like this.

As we are trying to get back to “normal” or whatever is possible, Momofuku Ma Peche is donating ALL PROCEEDS  from lunch and dinner today to benefit the Red Cross.
Also at their pop up in Williamsburg, plus a fancy $495 dinner with Cafe Bouloud. Details here

I know there are other ways to help out, but if you’re going out to eat anyways, might as well do it for a good cause right? I’m sure a lot of restaurants are doing the same, if you have any, please share with us below.

Of course, if you just want to donate and help
visit www.redcross.org, call 1-800-RED-CROSS, or text the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation

Be safe and stay warm everyone! Big hug to all New Yorkers… we will get through this!
