HOP LEE: Perfect for Chinese New Year’s Eve Dinner (or any night)
Today is Chinese New Year’s Eve, a night where families gather, from far and wide to share a extravagant meal. Not all of us can be home with our loved ones tonight, so a dinner with close friends aka “Chinese New Year Orphans” will take it’s place. There’s a chinese saying, “friends are your family away from home” this couldn’t be more true in a night like tonight.

Hop Lee is one of those no fuzz, traditional Cantonese Style places you can count on for quality and taste. There’s usually a wait, service is fair and somewhat friendly, plus you can BYOB. Enough reason to make this a great place for Chinese New Year’s Eve… well, actually any night you crave good and solid chinese at fa prices.

Park Avenue Winter: why Restaurant Week just isn’t worth it
After “that” incident, Restaurant Week left yet another bad impression in me. Mainly because of the disappointments and half hearted attempts served on plates. The purpose of showcasing the establishment has been lost along the way and Park Avenue Winter unfortunately falls under that category.
L’ABSINTHE BRASSERIE: The Last Supper (of 2010)
I ended last year on a French note and loved every minute of it. From my pre-birthday celebration at the French Wine Bar Jadis to one of my best birthdays ever, thanksgiving in Paris (those posts will come soon) and this last supper of 2010 at L’absinthe Brasserie.
One of the surprises of completing this unplanned French themed 2010 was randomly winning this $100 gift certificate. While doing some food research for the trip, I stumbled upon Celebrate the French Way and randomly entered the drawing. And voila, there was my winning! 12/31/10 was the last day to use it and so we did.

Grabbed my usual suspects, got dressed up and off we went to end the year right.

Hill Country Chicken: is there a Popeyes nearby?
Just the thought of fried chicken makes me giggle like a silly school girl on a sugar high. I enjoy it when I’m happy and devour it when I’m sad. Either way, this is a win-win relationship.
Walked… I mean, hoped and jumped in to Hill Country Chicken… this was an exciting day, Chubby Chinese Boy and I planned our 24 hrs around it. All natural, well treated chicken who eat healthier than I do, sure, sure! I dig, I dig.
CRUMBS: Booooooooooooooottery Halloween
We got these cute treats at work today. I can refuse a cupcake from Crumbs, but not when they look like this! Literally so cute I just wanted to eat them! Unfortunately, well… I guess great for them, they aren’t edible (rubber finger puppets).
