David Burke & Leblon Cachaca: Beverage Series Dinner + the chef himself

Dear Food Diary:
Wednesday night, one of my favorite chefs David Burke (Fishtail and Townhouse) hosted an amazing eat, drink and be merry event at his Bloomingdale’s location. This was the 3rd of his Beverage Series Dinner, where his yummy food is paired with different adult beverages. Leblon Cachaca (pronounced ka-sha-sa, a Brazilian spirit distilled from sugar cane juice, unlike the rum which is made from molasses) was the partner for the evening.

Bon Appetit SUPPER CLUB cafe: Part Two

Dear Food Diary:
Went back to the chaos with my friend Cindy, she’s the one who told me about this pop-up cafe weeks ago. Thank goodness she had a “mental health day” and arrived early. While I waited outside for 20 mins (even though I arrived 11:50), she was inside battling the lines and crowd to get our food.
NOW TO THE FOOD PART TWO:

Bon Appetit SUPPER CLUB cafe: yummy chaos in the city

Dear Food Diary:
Couldn’t wait to get there today, this work week’s lunch could possibly be one of the most exciting ones of the year. I rushed there by 2 trains, ran out of the 57th street station like a mad woman, I must of been “tailgating” the young guy in front of me, he looked back with an annoyed glance a couple times, but hey! I was on a mission, and I can’t stand people who walk slow. Anyways, thankfully I entered the much anticipated cafe at 12:30 sharp without any problem, there were lines by the different stations, but no lines at the door, 10 minutes later, my friend was stuck outside, waiting in a line that went around for 20+ minutes.

Rabbit Mafia: Supper Club Virgin No More

Dear Food Diary:
My friend Yvonne (a foodie in her own right, who’s ventured to a couple supper clubs solo) told me about Rabbit Mafias: The Progressive Supper Club. I’ve long been curious about these events and this was the perfect opportunity, my very first supper club dinner. For this I had to trek my way to Brooklyn, me and Brooklyn = oil and water, but thankfully Green Spaces was rite around the 6 train, note: the short walk was interesting to say the least, entering the building and finding the elevator was an adventure in itself.

Chubby’s 1st Annual New York Restaurant Week Awards 2009

Dear Food Diary:

New York restaurant week has come and gone over the years, and with a tough economy, it seems like the week has extended to weeks and somewhat water downed the concept. Many restaurants get on the wagon for this event just for a head count at the end of the night, but fortunately some have stayed true to themselves and most importantly their food and reputation. And this is my way of honoring them…
