JUST IN: The Chubby Chinese Girl will remain on Cer Te’s menu as a Thursday Special!

I went in to order my own sandwich the other day. Friendly workers at Cer Te stopped by to say hello, they were amused I showed up for a late lunch and giggled at the name of the blog/sandwich =)

Rock Center Cafe: Christmas Eve by the Rockefeller Tree

Dear Food Diary:
For the past 5 years, I’ve kept my own little Christmas Eve tradition – dinner by the most beloved tree. It makes up for the lack of Christmas decor in my apartment, while it paints everything Hollywood has made me believe this special night should be. I mean, who doesn’t love Home Alone 2? I grew up watching that and Christmas in NY always seemed “magical”and it is. In fact, my first trip to the Big Apple was during the holidays and it was unforgettable.

Foodbuzz 24,24,24: NY “Urban Orphan’s” Thanksgiving TURDUCKEN Dinner

Dear Food Diary:
New York is a city adorned with lights, brought to life by millions and millions of hopes and dreams from people who leave everything behind, their family, friends, and hometown, in search of making it all come true. These are the people I call “urban orphans”.
Jay Z and Alicia Keys describe it best:
“New York!!! Concrete jungle where dreams are made of. There’s nothing you can’t do… These streets will make you feel brand new, the lights will inspire you…”
I came to NY 10 years ago, arriving at 34th street and 10th Ave, with nothing but a suitcase full of excitement and expectations. It hasn’t been easy, but I wouldn’t trade if for anything. Likewise, in this melting pot, there’s a story similar to mine everywhere I turn. The holidays are the time we feel the most homesick. Over the years, I’ve spent Thanksgiving at several friends’ homes (very gracious of them), but honestly the sight of an entire family sharing, laughing and eating together, makes me miss home that much more.

WD-50: Molecular Gastronomy, a play date with my senses

Dear Food Diary:
I’ve been wanting to take my palate on a molecular gastronomy (the marriage between science and cooking) field trip at WD-50 for a while, but as many of you foodies know, finding friends to share the adventures can sometimes be a challenge. Thankfully I have a group of open minded, food loving “amis”, just a shout out to ya’ll.

Kyotofu: Very Girly. Very Tofulicious (CLOSED)

Dear Food Diary:
Kyotofu is one of my favorite places for an all girls get together. Light bites, girly drinks and beautiful yet super yummy tofu desserts. Boys go there too, don’t get me wrong, but they’re usually dragged/arm twisted/threatened by a girlfriend. Basically everything is delicate and real purty, and boys just don’t seem to get it, which is understandable. Below is a compilation of my many visits.
