Dear Food Diary:
A few afternoon’s ago, while sipping cappuccino at Lady M, mysterious looking branches and giant red blossoms peaked through the window. At first I thought it was an outdoor art exhibit. But, to my surprise, this was the storybook like hidden alleyway to Cynthia Rowley’s new Upper East Side clothing shop…

… and stairs to her version of a dark and dreamy Willy Wonka fantasy. Curious Candy is geared towards kids and those at heart with an active imagination and chic style. Of course, having lot of green doesn’t hurt either since this stuff ain’t cheap.

Upon entering the store, the smell of fresh paint and friendly faces greeted us. The dark, enchanted forest like theme spilled into their backyard, which would be pretty neat when the weather gets warm.

Walking up these stairs, it felt like I was being transported to another time and space…

Chocolate covered anything. Gummies in all shapes and colors. Birthday party ideas. Favors and anything sweet in between.

At $14/pound, I couldn’t help but think… so this is how the trust fund babies buy their candy. But then again, we are on the Upper East Side right?

Amongst it all, these stood out…

Cake in Art form:

These mini cakes, each individually hand painted by an local artist were stunning. Almost too pretty to eat. And at about $50 (yikes!), but it does make an adorable gift for that special someone, doesn’t it?

Chocolate Tea Cup Set:

The idea is to pour a beverage of choice (not hot of course) sip and then eat the whole thing while you chit chat with friends. Oh my! surely that cannot be proper etiquette for a lady LOL. Would be fun though.

If you’re in the area, Curious is a fun escape and treat (pun intended). Afterwards, Lady M can always follow your insatiable sweet tooth.
