Dear Food Diary:
We got these cute treats at work today. I can refuse a cupcake  from Crumbs, but not when they look like this! Literally so cute I just wanted to eat them! Unfortunately, well… I guess great for them, they aren’t edible (rubber finger puppets).

MAX & MINAS: Alcoholic Homemade Ice Creams

Dear Food Diary:
I was introduced to Max & Minas while watching Ice Cream Paradise on the Travel Channel. When they mentioned Flushing, Queens, I was like huh? what? really? but ecstatic of course. Then when I saw the storefront, I was shocked. I’ve driven by so many times over the years on my way to Baskin Robbins and their mere 31 flavors. Shame on me. I overlooked this Ice Cream gem. From their wall of ice cream lovers, celebrities and media adore this place. Now it was this Chubby’s turn to judge.

UiUi Bubble Tea: Bowl of Shaved Ice to beat the heat

Dear Food Diary:
Nothing beats the heat like  a nice bowl of Taiwanese Shaved Ice. Yeah, I’m talking about these hot humid days, where ice cream melts in your hand. One of my to go places is UiUi Bubble Tea in Chinatown.

CONES: Argentinean “Helado” in NYC

Dear Food Diary:
Second day back in NYC, I got the helado itch. No surprise since it had become my daily sweet fix on my visit back home. Upon some research, I found Cones. Once the clock hit 6pm, I rushed downtown like an addict.

Spot Dessert Bar: Homemade sodas and a sweet way to start/end any day

Dear Food Diary:
Walking into Spot is like entering the set of a random asian soap/music video. Its high panel windows, wooden tables and accents, cute water jars, twinkling lights transmits a warm, welcoming atmosphere that’s both homey and friendly. Good for any date scene or a friends get together. As I await the highlights of a sweet episode to play out, Asian pop music begins playing in my head. Even sans a handsome Asian actor bursting out cheesy dialogue, the variety on their fun menu assures that my spoon and taste buds will embark on a sweet sweet love affair to the far far East and back.
