Gelato Taste-Off: AMORINO vs GROM

grom vs amorino gelato

Dear Food Diary:
I grew up on gelato and this sweet treat remains as one of my all time favorites. A couple years ago, when Grom opened in the West Village, I was immediately hooked. Nothing so far has come to replace its number one spot. Amorino came to town a couple weeks ago, I stopped by opening day… let the taste-off begin:

Foodbuzz 24×24: CONCH TASTING in Turks & Caicos

Dear Food Diary:
The best way to enjoy this post: Put on some island music in the background and have a fruity tropical drink, maybe with a dash or two of rum. For this month’s Foodbuzz 24×24, I spend a sunny day Conch Tasting around the beautiful islands of Turks and Caicos with my friend S. We go diving for conchs and do a tasting (prepared in all sorts of ways) around the island. Not to mention, our first taste of the natural Viagra of the Caribbean! LOL (yes, it comes within the conch).

Dear Food Diary:
As a food blogger I get invited to a variety of events, not all of them turn out to be worth my time, but this last Nespresso private media event at their Soho Boutique was an awesome one.

Dining on the L train

I don’t take the L train often, actually ever! But if I had to, I’d pay $100 for this yummy ride!!! Awesome idea, even in a city where there’s seems to be everything! LOVE IT!!! read more about it on a razor, a shiny knife

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN: Pop Up Restaurant (Movement 3: 19th Century France)

Dear Food Diary:
Pop Up Restaurants have been the new trend around town, even the James Beard Foundation jumped on the wagon. And why not. For any commitment-phobic, curious and audacious foodie/chef/decorator, this is a dream and a win-win. Your imagination is allowed, better yet… encouraged to run wild, brining all senses along for the ride. At What Happens When, the menu, interior design and soundscape change every 30 days, promising a full new experience.

MOVEMENT 3 just happens to revolve around one of my favorite art movements of the 19th-century, Impressionism. Focusing specifically on Renoir’s “Luncheon of the Boating Party” (which is currently in The Phillips Collection in Washington DC) as their main inspiration.
