Má Pêche: The “Peach” Empire comes to Midtown, while Food Bloggers come together.

Dear Food Diary:

For our first Food Blogger get together, Andrea(high/low/food/drink) organized a nice lunch at David Chang’s newest “Peach” addition, Ma Peche at the chic and modern Chamber Hotel. Ever since the Foodbuzz Festival, Andrea and I’ve been talking about a dinner, but this came as a nice preview, thanks to birthday girl Jen(tiny urban kitchen) who was in town!

Stōgo: Gourmet Organic Dairy-Free Ice Cream is a NO-GO for me

Dear Food Diary:

I’m always up for trying new things, specially if it’s an icy cold, sugary goodness, aka ice cream. I’ve pass by Stogo a couple times, and made a mental note: must try. In times like these, I wished my memory had failed me. But I guess there’s a price to my curiosity, $6 in this case.

Montel Williams Health Master: Confessions of an INFOMERCIAL-HOLIC

Dear Food Diary:

“Call now and we’ll take one payment off”. “But wait, call in the next 15 minutes and get a free _______”. “Try it for 30 days or your money back, guaranteed”. “I’ve been using my _______ and loved the results, it really works”. “All this a $$$ value for less than $”… I could go on and on, these words just seem to have a special power over me, maybe it’s the late night and lack of sleep.
It all started back in college, when I first moved to this country. Working on projects through the night, the TV was always on to keep me company. I got a credit card without any credit history while walking around campus, all naive, I just wanted the FREE South Park t-shirt, these nice ladies had me sign on the dotted line, few weeks later, the all powerful mini plastic arrived, and the love affair for late night impulsive shopping began.

Mama Theresa’s: Eat and Shop ’til you drop in Long Island

Dear Food Diary:
I love shopping, and I love food, so getting both fixes in one day is a total indulgence, next to a day at the spa.

Century 21 Department Store use to be “NY’s Best Kept Secret”, this was 10 years ago, now, every tourist knows about it, it’s in every guide book, yada yada yada. The NYC store looks like a tornado just went by, with so many people in one store, I usually feel suffocated, that’s not a good way to shop. Thank goodness for Westbury, Long Island. This store is spacious, with high ceilings, good variety, organized, great price, but most importantly, less people! An inviting stroll down racks of Designer Brands at Walmart prices (ok, maybe not that cheap, but you get the idea).
After hours of shopping (my preferred exercise, hehe) I like to fill my tummy with an homey Italian meal at Mama Theresa’s, which is a couple steps away, both in the same complex. This is like a Combo, can’t go to one without the other.

Foodbuzz Blogger Festival 2009

All the goodies we scored, plus a fun photo booth pic, the top right pic was taken after the first pic, as I walked out of the booth thinking I was done (it was 3pm and I already had an array of wines and beer, enough said)
Dear Food Diary:

The best way to describe FoodBuzz Blogger Festival would be the convo I had with my mama:
me: “I decided to attend the food blogger festival!”
mom: “What’s that? why are you going? is it safe?”
me: “You know how you say ALL I think about is food, even when I’m eating?”
mom: “Yes! you still do, all the time!”
me: “Yeah, so imagine 250 people just like me, together for a couple days”
mom: “Hahaha, oh you’re gonna meet a lot of good friends”
