Northern Spy Food Co.: Simple farm to table food
Dear Food Diary:
After watching Food Inc. last night, I thought to myself, thank goodness for this farm to table boom. I’m glad I can afford the fruits, veggies and eggs from the farmers market nearby, it’s such a big difference in taste. This is the way they were suppose to taste and shouldn’t be a luxury. Our health is our most prized gift, yet we’re slowly killing ourselves with processed junk. The worst part is, it’s just so hard to break away from it 100% (for me at least) but I do try my best. Less quantity but better quality is the way to go.
Szechuan Gourmet: Lunch with “The 93 Plates Adventure”
Dear Food Diary:
First day back to work and I had lunch plans with Hagan from Wandering Foodie. The 93 Plates Adventure is his project for the month of January, 3 meals a day at an array of restaurants throughout the city (93 joints in total), shared with a different NYC food blogger each time. He’s disregarding his waistline and pursuing the adventure he envisioned *applause*, specially when most people’s new year resolution goes exactly the opposite direction.
Wo Hop & Gahm Mi Oak: Best After Drinking Eats
Dear Food Diary:
It’s the season to eat, drink and be merry. Actually, these are the rules I try to live by every day of the year… Cheers to that! Since NYE is hours away, I thought this post would come in handy.
After a long night of drinking and partying, the tummy always calls for something hearty and comforting before hitting the pillow. Aside from the Halal Guys on 53rd & 6 Av, these are my favorite places to visit late nights (I mean early mornings *wink*). The latest I’ve been to both places is past 4 a.m.
Rock Center Cafe: Christmas Eve by the Rockefeller Tree
Dear Food Diary:
For the past 5 years, I’ve kept my own little Christmas Eve tradition – dinner by the most beloved tree. It makes up for the lack of Christmas decor in my apartment, while it paints everything Hollywood has made me believe this special night should be. I mean, who doesn’t love Home Alone 2? I grew up watching that and Christmas in NY always seemed “magical”and it is. In fact, my first trip to the Big Apple was during the holidays and it was unforgettable.
Motorino: Out with the old, in with the “delizioso” new!
Dear Food Diary:
When the dude from Una Pizza Napolitana left for the West Coast, pizza lovers all over were weeping over the thin crusted goodness. But fast forward a couple month, in comes Motorino and all our tears are wiped by an even better baked round dough+cheese+meat. Same oven, but better pizza if you ask me.
