Economy Candy: Happy “Treat or Treating”!
Dear Food Diary:
My friend and I discovered Economy Candy last week, literally 2 kids in a candy store. This place is a must go for “Treat or Treating”! cuz let’s face it, we’re too old to knock on our neighbors doors tomorrow.
Pictured above is owner Jerry, the Willy Wonka of the LES, this place is so much more affordable than Dylan’s or wherever the rich upper east side peeps go, and you don’t even need to be at the tourist trap m&m store in Times Square to choose your colors, they have it too. Plus a sweet variety of Jelly Belly, high end mints like Oral Fixation, super whimsical 1950’s themed candy, gum, Baci chocolates, giant Pez and the list goes on and on…
Sara Snacker’s Chipn’etzel: Potato Chips + Pretzel in a Cookie!?
Dear Food Diary:
The folks at Sara Snacker were nice enough to send over their Original Potato Chip and Pretzel Cookies, trust me, when I first read the cute label, I said *huh?*, just like you must be right now. These aren’t things you usually picture together in one bite. I mean on their own, very popular snacks/junk food, but baked together and then dipped in chocolate?
Despaña: Jamón ibérico + Surimi Baby Eel

Dear Food Diary:
I was so excited when my friend told me they opened this new store Despaña around Chinatown, for all things from España (hence the name De= from, España= Spain). A small but well stocked specialty store with an array of cure meats, olive oils, balsamic vinegars, canned seafoods and a back counter serving pintxo (small slice of bread with different toppings of cured meats and chorizo), tortillas (made with eggs, potatoe, onions and a variety of other ingredients).

The best gum flavor ever has finally arrived: Orbit’s NEW Mint Mojito
No! it doesn’t have any alcohol (believe me, people have asked me that), but it’s got a great mix of fresh lime and mint. The flavors really compliment and bring out the best of each other. Total freshness in your mouth and just the perfect balance of sour and sweet. Now we can all smile =)
