US OPEN 2011: Food Tasting Preview with Morimoto and Mantuano

US OPEN 2011 Aces Restaurant Bar and Grill 1
Dear Food Diary:

Not all PR events turn out to be like the last one. The US Open 2011 Food Tasting Preview for example, was the total opposite. A beautiful afternoon with food, bubbly and more, just like the invite promised. If you’re off to see the games, you’re in luck! there’s so many great food options all over, your tummy will be happy.

SOTTO TERRA: PR dinner that MADE NO SENSE

Dear Food Diary:

So a couple weeks ago, I get the invite above. I’ve seen George Duran on the Food Network and was excited to see what new foodie project they had in mind. The words “intimate Italian restaurant”, “delicious four course meal” and “sangria” tickled my appetite. I accepted immediately. To hype it even more, I was told that this “exclusive” underground restaurant was only open for 5 days. Not only was I allowed to bring a guest, but they offered my readers a dinner for two though a giveaway.

We arrived at this beautiful brownstone, eager and hungry. Excited and happy to bring my friend J along for what I promised to be an awesome night of great food and new friends. But instead of an “exclusive dinner”, we were unknowingly part of a “focus group dinner”.

SMORGASBURG: Yummy Saturday with a view

smorgasburg 1
Dear Food Diary:
Last Saturday, I woke up with an unexplainable urge for lobster roll, a fresh buttery one from Red Hook Lobster Pound to be exact. I couldn’t fight off a craving this strong, so I tracked them down online/phone call (crazy I know) and found them at Smorgasburg at the Williamsburg waterfront. Killed two birds at once, since I’ve been wanting to check it out since May.

LE GRAND FOODING 2011 Tix are on SALE! Hurry! (plus a look back at 2010’s)

Le Grand Fooding NY 2011 has a whole new format. Instead of PS1 like the previous 2 years, this time, it’s in the city. And it’s not going to be taste stations for each chef. Instead, they’re pulling off a 52 hour dinner around the clock. $100 gets you a sit down dinner prepared by one chef at a certain time (some are crazy, like 1am-4am), plus booze. (The chefs and menu for Sept 23-25)

The website says tickets are on sale Sept 1st, BUT you can GET YOUR TICKETS HERE

Hurry! ‘cuz tix sell out fast!

A TASTE-TROSPECT OF 2010 LE GRAND FOODING
As you may remember, I wrote a looong post about it, but blogger.com went down and I lost all the content! So here’s my attempt to relive that fun and yummy night. The theme was NY vs SFle fooding 2010 104
Met David Chang early in the evening, that was cool, though I have this love/hate relationship with his “peach empire”. We had VIP tix (paid double), so there weren’t many ppl during that time frame.

Lex Ave Summer Fest + Fordcast Tour + Cupcakes

Fordcast Summer Tour Lexington Avenue Summer Fest 6

Dear Food Diary:
This past Sunday, I was at the Lexington Avenue Summerfest with the Fordcast Tour. The Cupcake stop was giving away FREE cupcakes to chubby readers and I was part of a highlight video for the Fordcast Tour.
