I brought my friend Clara along for the tasty afternoon. With our VIP passes at hand, we went off to an eating marathon.

EN BRASSERIE: Fish Head, Eel Bones & Beer

EN fish head, eel bones & beer 10
Dear Food Diary:
First Saturday of every month UPDATE: First Thursday of each month, at 10pm, EN Japanese Brasserie hosts a dinner inspired by their staff. The idea is to not let anything go to waste. The chef uses left over ingredients like fish heads, eel bones, vegetables and scraps of wagyu beef and whips up a creative late night meal for themselves, traditionally called Makanai. EN brings this concept to diners, a rare and unique treat for food lovers and late night munchers. Dishes change seasonally, below was our fun and yummy $45 experience (food + beer).

This was a casual affair… really really casual, we almost felt like we worked there or something. First claim your seat, then go over and hand the bartender your glass for unlimited Sapporo beer throughout the meal. Then it’s all self serve, free for all. At first we felt like there wasn’t enough food, but then they kept bringing out more and our tummies were fully satisfied and happy.

MAZE by Gordon Ramsay: What the %!$#%$!&^@$#

Dear Food Diary:
I’m going to start this post by stating that I don’t usually use foul language (unless it’s totally necessary). I don’t condone it either. With that said, this review is for Maze by Gordon Ramsay. They say when in Rome do as the Romans do, therefore, when at Maze speak as Gordon would. (I’ll try anyways, his potty mouth is on an unreachable level that  would make me blush). This is from Winter Restaurant Week 2010, I know I’m a little behind, but I’m trying to catch up since Restaurant Week just started).

Foodbuzz 24 24: Summer Soba Picking Party

summer soba picking party 2
Dear Food Diary:

For this month’s Foodbuzz  24 24 I was selected to make my Summer Soba Picking Party idea into a yummy reality. I’ve always loved soba, these buckwheat noodles are satisfying but lighter than egg noodles, better for you, versatile and perfect served cold.

Sneak “Taste” at McDonald’s: New Summer Items and Chic New Decor

Dear Food Diary:
The PR folks at Mickey D’s invited me to a sneak peek of their new Summer menu items. I wasn’t expecting anything different from the 47th st and 6th av location, I’ve pass by many times without giving it a second thought. After finding my name on the guest list, I headed upstairs (which was closed for the event) and stepped into a Twilight Zone moment. What? Where am I? This is McDonald’s? Chic, modern, colorful and inviting, it looked like a nice cafe, in this case, the Mc Cafe concept. There were manicures and massages while Angus Snack Wraps and Fruit Smoothies were passed around. The menu items will be available soon, but the pampering was only
for the event, sorry ladies! But hey, Smoothies at McD’s! Awesome.
