Bracco’s Clam & Oyster Bar: Seafood in Long Island
Dear Food Diary:
The first time I went to Bracco’s was on a hot summer afternoon, for an early dinner. We had spent the day at Jones Beach for my friend Cindy’s Beach Baptism, so to celebrate her big day and to welcome her to our big Christian family, we took her out for a seafood feast in Freeport. The weather was great, and the food was awesome.
Freeport reminded us of being on a small street in the Capes, somewhere outside of NY, and Bracco’s was very casual and laid back, shorts, tanks and flip flops kind of place.
Chikalicious Dessert Club: my late night adult chocolate fix
Dear Food Diary:
It’s been hell for the past couple days at work, late nights and impossible deadlines. On top of that I’ve yet to recover from my jet lag, 2 weekends away to the west coast (will update those awesome travel eats soon, I promise) and catching red eye flights back and heading straight to work.
Anyways, back to last night, after a looooong day here in front of the computer, I needed something rewarding to end the night. At 11:15pm, I desperately craved dark chocolate, the kind of craving no chocolate bar could win over. My tummy was set, I WANTED the Adult Chocolate Pudding from Chikalicious Dessert Club. This is why I love NYC, at any hour, whatever you fancy could be satisfied. Headed downtown with my friend, time wasn’t on our side, we had to make it before midnight (closing time), thankfully the green light’s turned when they were suppose to and we made it.
Sakagura: More than just the best sake bar
Dear Food Diary:
Midtown east is mostly filled with boring banks and offices, that is until you make your way to 211 E 43rd street. First glance is just another office building (they now have a sign out, when it first started there was no sign which made it “secretive”), pass the security guard, down the stairs and a little piece of Japan reveals to you. Feels like a restaurant in some little town outside of Tokyo.
Nougatine at Jean Georges: pleasant lunch

Dear Food Diary:
Last weekend was a real happy one, my buddy was back in town visiting. She moved to LA for work a couple month ago and we miss each others company and all of our hang outs. So I suggested to meet at Nougatine on Sunday for a nice late lunch, while we catch up.
In the heart of Columbus Circle, inside the Trump building, you walk into a pool of beautiful leaves and plants over water, and immediately greeted and seated by the hostesses. The place is very airy, but smaller than I had imagined. The afternoon sun brightened the dining room through floor to ceiling windows.
BO KY/ GRAND BO KY: best chinese noodle soup in Chinatown!!! (slurp’s on)
Dear Food Diary:
Whenever I’m craving a bowl of pipping hot and steaming goodness, I head to Bo Ky in Chinatown. Last night was one of those nights, after a couple days out of town, my tummy was demanding a big bowl of hot, soupy, homey, comforting, slurp till the last drop concoction that only my mama and Bo Ky could offer. Since chubby mama is on the other side of the world, Bo Ky was the next best thing.
It’s a no frills… no frills at all, family owned, real old school chinese noodle restaurant. I’ve been going there for almost a decade and faces haven’t really changed, the place hasn’t changed much (they added air condition!!! I was so happy about that!), the menu’s still the same, and most importantly the flavors have remained unaltered.
