UO: Live sushi and sashimi. Overly creative. (CLOSED)

Dear Food Diary:
New Yorkers (specially us bloggers) put up with a lot when it comes to dining out. Impossible to get reservations, logging online at specific times for a spot, waiting outside in the freezing cold, you say it, we’ve done it. But UO went beyond, couple hrs before our reservation on a Saturday night, they apologize for “no fish” over the phone and canceled on us! Say what?… Any sane person would cross this place off their list and moved on, but oh no! not us! We are bloggers darn it! and there’s nothing more alluring than a yelp newby. I mean, we live for this stuff and there’s no pride when it comes to satisfying our palate and curiosity. Our 2nd reservation was 4 days later.

Northern Spy Food Co.: Simple farm to table food

Dear Food Diary:
After watching Food Inc. last night, I thought to myself, thank goodness for this farm to table boom. I’m glad I can afford the fruits, veggies and eggs from the farmers market nearby, it’s such a big difference in taste. This is the way they were suppose to taste and shouldn’t be a luxury. Our health is our most prized gift, yet we’re slowly killing ourselves with processed junk. The worst part is, it’s just so hard to break away from it 100% (for me at least) but I do try my best. Less quantity but better quality is the way to go.

Lulu & Mooky’s: Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream

Dear Food Diary:
I was on a exciting “molecular gastronomy” adventure last week. First WD-50 (post to come) and then, stopped by Lulu & Mooky’s on Friday after a long day at work, had to work late on a Friday night! can you believe it? #$#%$%$ I was burning with rage, thankfully the liquid nitrogen ice cream cooled me down, actually that and the 40 degree weather outside.
According to the “mad scientist”, they haven’t really officially opened, so the place looks a bit messy and unfinished. He was friendly, but seemed more of an introvert, who at all times was concentrated on the “formulas” and mixing the requested “flavors” in his very cute pink mixers.

Nougatine at Jean Georges: pleasant lunch

Dear Food Diary:
Last weekend was a real happy one, my buddy was back in town visiting. She moved to LA for work a couple month ago and we miss each others company and all of our hang outs. So I suggested to meet at Nougatine on Sunday for a nice late lunch, while we catch up.
In the heart of Columbus Circle, inside the Trump building, you walk into a pool of beautiful leaves and plants over water, and immediately greeted and seated by the hostesses. The place is very airy, but smaller than I had imagined. The afternoon sun brightened the dining room through floor to ceiling windows.
