Spot Dessert Bar: Homemade sodas and a sweet way to start/end any day

Dear Food Diary:
Walking into Spot is like entering the set of a random asian soap/music video. Its high panel windows, wooden tables and accents, cute water jars, twinkling lights transmits a warm, welcoming atmosphere that’s both homey and friendly. Good for any date scene or a friends get together. As I await the highlights of a sweet episode to play out, Asian pop music begins playing in my head. Even sans a handsome Asian actor bursting out cheesy dialogue, the variety on their fun menu assures that my spoon and taste buds will embark on a sweet sweet love affair to the far far East and back.

UO: Live sushi and sashimi. Overly creative. (CLOSED)

Dear Food Diary:
New Yorkers (specially us bloggers) put up with a lot when it comes to dining out. Impossible to get reservations, logging online at specific times for a spot, waiting outside in the freezing cold, you say it, we’ve done it. But UO went beyond, couple hrs before our reservation on a Saturday night, they apologize for “no fish” over the phone and canceled on us! Say what?… Any sane person would cross this place off their list and moved on, but oh no! not us! We are bloggers darn it! and there’s nothing more alluring than a yelp newby. I mean, we live for this stuff and there’s no pride when it comes to satisfying our palate and curiosity. Our 2nd reservation was 4 days later.

Northern Spy Food Co.: Simple farm to table food

Dear Food Diary:
After watching Food Inc. last night, I thought to myself, thank goodness for this farm to table boom. I’m glad I can afford the fruits, veggies and eggs from the farmers market nearby, it’s such a big difference in taste. This is the way they were suppose to taste and shouldn’t be a luxury. Our health is our most prized gift, yet we’re slowly killing ourselves with processed junk. The worst part is, it’s just so hard to break away from it 100% (for me at least) but I do try my best. Less quantity but better quality is the way to go.

Wo Hop & Gahm Mi Oak: Best After Drinking Eats

Dear Food Diary:
It’s the season to eat, drink and be merry. Actually, these are the rules I try to live by every day of the year… Cheers to that! Since NYE is hours away, I thought this post would come in handy.
After a long night of drinking and partying, the tummy always calls for something hearty and comforting before hitting the pillow. Aside from the Halal Guys on 53rd & 6 Av, these are my favorite places to visit late nights (I mean early mornings *wink*). The latest I’ve been to both places is past 4 a.m.

Motorino: Out with the old, in with the “delizioso” new!

Dear Food Diary:
When the dude from Una Pizza Napolitana left for the West Coast, pizza lovers all over were weeping over the thin crusted goodness. But fast forward a couple month, in comes Motorino and all our tears are wiped by an even better baked round dough+cheese+meat. Same oven, but better pizza if you ask me.
