Mariebelle NY Cocoa Bar: A date with hot chocolate

Mariebelle NY - chocolat shop 5

Dear Food Diary:
For the love of hot chocolate, Mariebelle NY is a chocoholics dream come true. Whether you have a long time boo or someone special in mind, the Cocoa Bar inside the retail store is one romantic spot. Get a cup of their thick and rich hot chocolate in different levels of intensity and flavors. Surely, every chocolate lover will find their favorite. One of the best in this city. Add some pretty French desserts, sit back and enjoy.

Afterwards, you can browse the charming store and take home a box or two of their fine chocolate.

MAISON KAYSER nyc: From Paris with love

maison kayser 1

Dear Food Diary:
Eric Kayser brought an edible postcard of Paris to the Upper East Side. Maison Kayser is a warm, neighborhood bread shop, bakery and cafe, much like the ones you’d encounter in the city of love. I’ve willingly overspent my carb limits there with many many happy memories.

This man, like many of his fellow French men, use one of the most basic of ingredients – flour, and turn it into love. The result are the best almond chocolate croissant I’ve had in the Big Apple, amazing tarts and bread that make you forget all other food groups.

Macchiato Espresso Bar: maple pecan danish & latte

Macchiato Expreso Bar - latte and maple pecan danish

Dear Food Diary:
My latest breakfast obsession have been these Maple Pecan Danishes at Macchiato Espresso Bar. Super fresh (I read that they bake in house, which explains). Extra flaky and buttery. The pecan’s nutty aroma are like extra pops of awesomeness and the filling is light and not too sweet. I’ve had it every day this week, but heck! It’s the holidays!!!

Their creamy lattes and mochas are really good too… great way to start the morning.

Sugar and Plumm: Savory & lots of sweet on the UWS

sugar and plumm 1

Dear Food Diary:
Upper West Side just got a sprinkle of fairy dust. It’s a little sweeter with the addition of Sugar and Plumm. This place looks like the dream of a chubby fairy godmother, seriously, just looking around makes your sugar levels go high, thankfully there’s also a full menu with non sugary items. Their pastries are by Pichet Ong (Sport Dessert Bar) and all savory comfort food dishes by chef Steven Ferdinard (soups, salads and entree choices).

It opened to some controversy, having to tone down on the “cute factor” (boooooo), but honestly I find the Planet Sushi neon sign across the street way more disruptive.

Pinkberry’s new Chocolate and Hazelnut is delizioso

Pinkberry just won me back with their new flavor. It reminds me faintly of hazelnut gelato, not as creamy nor intense of course but a close second with tons of  toppings.
Tonite I got mine with roasted hazelnuts , raspberries, chocolate covered pretzels and wafer cone.

This won’t be my last time this week for sure. I hope hazelnut is here to stay. Raise your spoon if you’re with me!
