Blue Hill: Visual love letter to unforgettable seasonal experiences
Dear Food Diary:
Through the years, there’s only been one place that has truly stolen my heart in every single aspect of a perfect dining experience – Blue Hill at Stone Barns.
This is my visual love letter to unforgettable seasonal experiences at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Blue Hill Cafe and Blue Hill NY.
Nightingale 9: Vietnamese with a dash of Southern
Dear Food Diary:
When StalkerBoy plans our date night, he usually picks something unique to surprise me, like going to Nightingale 9 in Carroll Gardens for Vietnamese.
When I saw chef/owner Robert Newton (from Seersucker) on the menu, it all made sense. See, I follow him on Instagram and I knew he was back in Vietnam, the photo evidence showed him flavor scoping – hence his venture to open a Vietnamese joint in the first place.
North Brooklyn Farms: Farm to Table Supper Club in Williamsburg
Dear Food Diary:
I didn’t know what to expect when we arrived at North Brooklyn Farms for their first Farm-to-Table Supper Club a few Sundays ago. For one, I’ve never been to this part of Williamsburg and what a surprise it was. A little blooming farm right by the bridge. Their whole concept of bringing the farm to a city setting put a smile on my face.
Delightfully surprised and treated to a lovely night with my girls and a farm fresh meal as we held on to summer.
Ramen Burger at Smorgasburg
Dear Food Diary:
Even though I was absent all summer, NY’s new food obsessions traveled all the way across the globe. From the cronut to ramen burger, I couldn’t wait to get back and try them all.
I spent a good chunk of last Saturday at Smorgasburg‘s Ramen Burger line… and I GOT THE LAST ONE! Only a limited amount is served each Sat.
YUJI RAMEN: 5 course ramen omakase tasting
Dear Food Diary:
Yuji Ramen took the spot at Smorgasburg Whole Foods Bowery last week. The Brooklyn based Ramen Lab has been a regular at Smorgasburg and Brooklyn Flea, serving up his experimental Mazemen (ramen sans broth) with local and sustainable ingredients.
Until May 12th, Yuji gets a chance to show off his signature mazemen creations lunch/dinner/takeout. At night, he’s full on play mode, torching ingredients and re-shaping ramen dough for his unique 5 course Omakase Tastings ($40). 2 seatings of 6 seats at a time, all tickets sold out in 2 days.
