[MENDOZA, ARGENTINA]: Villa Mansa Wine Hotel and biking around the vineyards

villa mansa wine hotel, mendoza 2

Dear Food Diary:
From NYC to Buenos Aires, I’ve always been a city girl, so when looking for a place to stay in Mendoza, I took the chance to be as far away from the city as possible. Close to the vineyards and the amazing mountain views. Villa Mansa Wine Hotel was offering an awesome discount right before our trip, woohooo! Right in the heart of Lujan the Cuyo (one of the three wine regions in Mendoza), our stay was everything I had wanted –  excellent food, personal service and great location.

[LAS VEGAS] Jean Philippe Patisserie: Unadulterated indulgence + the world’s biggest chocolate fountain

Jean Philippe Patisserie - Las Vegas

Dear Food Diary:
French pastry Chef Jean Philippe brought his A game to Las Vegas. His beautiful pastries, chocolates, cakes and the best  ham & cheese croissant I’ve ever had. To top it off, he also built the World’s Biggest Chocolate Fountain (Guinness World Record). The ultimate unadulterated indulgence. Grand in every way. It’s Sin City after all.

In our short 30hr stop, we let our sweet tooth go wild twice. Once at the Bellagio, where the chocolate fountain is housed and an afternoon break at the Aria, where the chocolate dragon is proudly shown.

[CT] LOUIS’ LUNCH: America’s First Hamburger

Louis' Lunch Burger 2

Dear Food Diary
As we celebrate 4th of July tomorrow, I wanted to give one of America’s favorite eats a shout out… from the very beginning, in 1900…

A simple story of one hungry man pressed for time, a luncheonette owner’s quick thinking with a beef patty in between two slices of white bread – the birth of America’s first hamburger at Louis’ Lunch in New Haven, Connecticut.

Feliz 25 de Mayo para todos los Argentinos!

Dear Food Diary:
Today is a special day in which Argentineans celebrate the Day of the May Revolution (Argentina’s Independence from Spain in 1810).
To commemorate this year, I wanted to give little taste of my Argentina, the one I grew up in…

[ARGENTINA] PERITO MORENO GLACIER: Trekking. Whisky. Alfajor. Boat ride.

Dear Food Diary:
We had a fun time and filled our tummies at Estancia 25 de Mayo the day before. Now what we so anxiously been waiting was finally happening. At the crack of dawn, we left from El Calafate to the Perito Moreno Glacier. Where we did trekking, drank some whisky with glacier ice, had chocolate alfajores and enjoyed our every minute with this spectacular natural wonder.
